Taxes

So far as taxation is concerned, the relationship between you and your host family is regarded as an employer/employee relationship and is therefore subject to Danish taxation laws. The basic tax rate is 4.67%. Social security contributions consist of an 8% labour market contribution paid on wages and benefits in kind. The health care contribution is 7%, which is calculated on the taxable income. You must pay this contribution regardless of whether you have full or limited tax obligations. The Danish Tax and Customs Administration (SKAT) can inform you about the rules regarding taxation of pocket money and free room and board on tel. +45 72 22 18 18. You can also contact Feriekontoret by phone on tel.+45 33 95 52 20. Any questions about taxation can be answered by the tax administration office in the municipality of the host family.
