Youth Cultural Exchange Program in the United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom there is no official Au Pair program anymore. However, If you have a passport from an EFTA country you have the right of free movement and residence in the UK. This means you can be an Au Pair in British host families.

There is the British Au Pair Agencies Association in UK (BAPAA). BAPAA is the only recognized Trade Association for the Au pair industry in Britain. This organization was formed on a non-commercial basis with the purpose of setting standards for the Au Pair industry and protecting the Au Pair experience as a rewarding cultural exchange program giving a young person the opportunity to learn about British culture and improve language skills through interaction with children.
The Au Pair must be welcomed as a member of the family.
Once in the UK, every member agency can offer at least the following benefits to Au Pairs:

Requirements for becoming an Au Pair

Au Pair duties and responsibilities

Au Pair duties are light housework and childcare. An Au Pair is not permitted to have continuous sole charge of children under the age of two.

Au Pair support from the Host Family
